Electrification Hardware Engineer

The mission of this role:  Contribute hardware expertise to design and test electronic components, equipment, systems, and products. Develop global solutions for platforms and hardware prototypes, offering guidance on the intricate interaction between hardware and software.

Scope of the role:  Deliver hardware designs to meet electrification roadmaps and customer requirements.

Key Objectives of this Role:

Design cost-effective and robust HW solutions to meet customer requirements.  Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, EMC, RF, design validation, thermal design, compliance, reliability, and manufacturing test engineers.  Take ownership of circuit board electronics from specification through design, prototype, validation, and manufacturing.  Verify electrical requirements through component and bench-level testing.  Lead discussion on Hardware-Software Interface.

Key experience required:  

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.  Experience in selection and use of DSPs, microcontrollers, and programmable logic devices.  Experience designing digital communication busses (CAN, Ethernet, RS-485, USB, SPI, I2C, etc.).  Experience implementing wireless communication features (cellular, Wi-Fi).  Experience in selection and use of analog sensors and signal conditioning circuits.  Experience designing board level power supplies (buck, boost, flyback, etc.).  Experience in supervision of PCB layout, plane definition, and EMC optimization.  Proficiency with basic EE tools (scopes, network analyzers, etc.).  Experience with high voltage circuit designs.  Able to interface with internal/external customers and component suppliers.  RF technologies such as BT, WIFI, antenna design and other wireless technologies in the market. Also must be open to learn, design and manage new applications.  Advanced English level. 

Nice-to-have:  

Knowledge of Battery Management System platforms.  Knowledge of lower energy wireless technologies. 

Technical and Functional Competencies:  

Understanding of the process for planning, creating, and deploying electrification products.  Expertise in designing electrical system architecture with input from different areas, allocating functions to various sub-systems (such as hardware, software, HSI, system interfaces, etc.). Also, refine system requirements at the subsystem level. Ability to break down complex challenges into manageable parts effectively. Proficiency in initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing projects necessary within job scope.  Possess a thorough understanding of system domains, system integration and design as well as emerging technologies trends and practices.  Ability to manage vendor relationships and deliverables timely.
