The mission of the Electrical Engineer is to manage, lead and execute the design, development, testing, and monitoring of all electrical engineering activities. Ensure the successful implementation of electrical systems, power distribution, and equipment integration within the project.

You will work closely with the Project Director and other engineering disciplines, as well as project teams.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Design and develop HV, MV and LV electrical distribution systems, power distribution and backup systems, Motor Control Centers, as well as earthing and lightning controls systems, ensuring reliability and compliance with standards;
  • Conduct electrical load calculations (including load assessment, diversity, and demand factors), equipment selection and sizing, and specification development;
  • Setup, populate and maintain key engineering deliverables, including specifications, system architecture, load lists, Single Line Diagrams, cable schedules, hookup and connection diagrams, material take-offs, etc.
  • Review and approve all electrical documents, drawings, and schedules.
  • Generate Engineering Packs for requests for quotation, provide technical clarifications, conduct adjudications, and support procurement.
  • Coordinate interface with and manage electrical equipment and package suppliers. 
  • Witness and participate in the inspections and testing of procured equipment and packages (FAT and SAT);
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the internal engineering team, construction team and procurement team to integrate electrical systems and equipment, ensuring a proper installation and commissioning;
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the construction team, tracking progress, and coordinating with electrical leads (problem solving and remediating as/where needed);
  • Maintain overall responsibility for the suitability, reliability, quality and performance of all electrical designs, systems, equipment and packages.
  • Provide support and guidance to the electrical maintenance and operations teams while monitoring and facilitating electrical engineering activities within the project.

Requirements

    • BSc/ MSc degree in electrical engineering or related field;
    • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering roles focused on mineral and/or metal process plants, concentrators and refineries, industrial facilities, manufacturing, or similar projects, as well as managing electrical engineering activities within related projects;
    • Familiarity with electrical codes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements specific to industrial facilities, as well as a strong understanding of energy efficiency/ sustainability practices in electrical engineering;
    • Communication skills to work effectively with contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders;
    • Attention to detail to ensure quality and compliance in electrical engineering works;
    • Experience with power electronics and electrolysis processes and optimization a distinct advantage.
    • Problem-solving skills to address electrical engineering challenges and find effective solutions;
    • Collaborative mindset and enthusiastic team player;
    • Engineering excellence at the center of all tasks;
    • To be able to work entirely in English.
