Company Description

Founded in 2008 by Serge Trigano and his sons Jérémie and Benjamin (co-founders of Club Med), Mama Shelter is a creator of living spaces and a daily director

These are atypical places, where everyone feels at home, places born of a blend of influences, freedoms, sensations and emotions. Each Mama tells the story of the city in which it is located, and all influences blend together. We offer our guests a joyful atmosphere and exceptional service at an affordable price. More than just rooms and restaurants, Mama Shelter is a dynamic, a vibe: they are true urban refuges, not only aesthetically pleasing and modern but also popular, welcoming and sexy.

Whatever your role, we’re all here to make the customer experience as unforgettable as possible. Our mission: to bring little moments of happiness to people.

Our growth has enabled us to offer our teams great career paths through internal development and international mobility, and it’s not a question of diplomas or years of experience.

Mama Shelter is part of Ennismore, a creative hotel group rooted in cultures and destinations, with a global portfolio of brands. Ennismore is a joint venture with Accor, founded in 2021.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion:

Mama is an inclusive company, and our ambition is to recruit and promote diverse talent. Our advertisements are gender-neutral, so the masculine gender is used here to lighten the text.

Job Description

Would you like to join us and contribute to write the next chapter of Mama Shelter Lisbon's story.

THE MISSION?

As a General Manager, you are the driving force behind Mama Shelter in Lisbon. You lead with energy, heart and personality, creating a positive, stimulating and team-focused environment where everyone can thrive.

You are the leader of a team of around one hundred people whose mission is to deliver an exceptional Mama experience through the warm, quirky and welcoming atmosphere that makes our guests feel at home from the very first minute.

Mama must be in good hands with you: you observe the overall performance of the property, balance guest satisfaction, team engagement, operational excellence and business results.

You are not the kind of manager who catches from afar, you are present on the floor, close to your teams, close to the guests, and always ready to roll up your sleeves when needed.

You will also be Mama's ambassador in the city, building strong relationships with guests, local businesses and partners, while helping Mama shine in Lisbon and beyond

With a sharp eye on rooms, restaurants, bars, service, health and safety standards, you make sure operations run smoothly and that Mama stays profitable through revenue generation, cost control and smart decision-making.

Behind the scenes, you know your numbers: you analyse performance, monitor expenses, manage budgets and forecasts, and keep a close eye on financial plans.

To make it all happen, you work hand in hand with headquarters, especially on reporting, commercial initiatives, e-marketing and media campaigns.

And above all, you embody the Mama spirit every day: you inspire your teams, support their growth, keep communication flowing and help create the lively, generous and slightly cheeky energy that makes Mama, Mama.

Qualifications

  • You have solid experience as a General Manager in hospitality, with a strong background in hotel operations.
  • You have already led a busy lifestyle hotel, ideally with a vibrant restaurant and bar operation.
  • You know how to manage a large team and bring people together around a shared energy, strong standards and clear goals.
  • You are a hands‑on leader who prefers being in the action with the team rather than sitting behind a desk all day.
  • You know how to combine guest experience, business performance and operational discipline without losing the human touch.
  • You are comfortable reading and analysing a P&L, managing budgets, following costs closely and making sound business decisions.
  • You have a real talent for spotting potential, developing people and helping teams grow.
  • You are adaptable, calm under pressure and able to stay sharp in a fast-moving, lively and sometimes delightfully chaotic environment.
  • You are confident working with Microsoft Excel and Word; knowledge of hotel systems is always a plus.
  • You are fluent in English. Having an intermediate level of Portuguese would be desirable, allowing you to communicate effectively with the whole team.
  • You know how to build connections locally and you enjoy representing your property out in the city.
