We are looking for an experienced Senior PowerBuilder Developer to join a project within the financial markets sector. The role involves developing, enhancing and maintaining critical enterprise applications built on the PowerBuilder platform, ensuring application stability, performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in PowerBuilder, SQL and relational databases, as well as proven experience in financial markets environments.
What you’ll be doing:
- Design, develop, enhance and maintain enterprise applications using PowerBuilder.
- Analyse business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures and database objects.
- Perform application debugging, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Support production deployments and resolve application issues within agreed SLA timelines.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, QA teams and other technical teams.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure compliance with development standards and best practices.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design specifications and deployment guides.
- Estimate development and enhancement efforts.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to less experienced developers when required.
Work model: Lisbon, Portugal — hybrid, with 2 days per week on-site.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience as a PowerBuilder Developer.
- Strong knowledge of PowerScript, DataWindow and DataStores.
- Solid experience with relational databases, SQL, stored procedures and query optimization.
- Proven experience working on financial markets projects.
- Understanding of financial instruments and the trade lifecycle.
- Experience with production support and troubleshooting in critical environments.
- Knowledge of Git and version control practices.
- Understanding of n-tier architectures.
- Strong analytical, communication and documentation skills.
- English proficiency at C1 level.
Nice to have:
- Experience with recent PowerBuilder versions (2019/2022).
- Background in application upgrades, migrations or modernization projects.
- Knowledge of web services and integrations, including REST/SOAP and JSON/XML.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and CI/CD practices.
