AWS Senior Cloud Engineer Location: Lisbon, Portugal (Hybrid – 3 days on-site) Industry: Insurance Seniority: Senior Experience Level: 5+ years Role Overview We are looking for a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to collaborate closely with a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) in defining, implementing, and enforcing best practices for cloud operations. This is a full-time, time-and-materials engagement within the insurance domain, operating in a hybrid model with on-site presence required three days per week in Lisbon. The role focuses on supporting new initiatives through architectural guidance, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments, and leading incident response and problem-resolution activities in mission-critical environments. Key Responsibilities Partner with the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) to define, standardize, and enforce AWS operational best practices. Design and implement scalable, secure cloud architectures aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework. Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and AWS CloudFormation). Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated and reliable deployments. Lead troubleshooting, incident response, and root-cause analysis for critical AWS workloads. Ensure compliance with enterprise security, governance, and regulatory standards. Optimize AWS environments for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency. Required Technical Skills Strong hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and related cloud-native components. Advanced proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies. Practical experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and AWS CodePipeline. Solid background in monitoring, observability, and performance optimization within AWS environments. Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical efforts under high-pressure conditions. Preferred / Nice-to-Have AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Terraform certification Qualifications & Experience 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or related technical roles. Senior-level experience designing, deploying, and operating AWS solutions in enterprise-scale environments.
