Director of Technology for Lisbon Technology Competence Centre
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
We are seeking a trailblazing and visionary lead for Richemont’s Tech Competence Centre (TCC), our soon to be established state-of-the-art tech hub in Lisbon. This centre is designed to supercharge Group Technology’s capabilities with global scope, delivering robust and sustainable tech foundations while pioneering new tech initiatives that bring the best of tech innovation to Richemont. In this role, you will be tasked with developing and operating our flagship tech hub, steering digital innovation, and fostering a technology and engineering-driven culture to enrich Richemont’s offerings. You will lead a diverse and expanding team, working hand-in-hand with global stakeholders to establish the TCC as a magnet for the brightest minds in tech. The role is full-time and based in Lisbon.
Key Responsibilities include:

TCC Strategy and Development:
-
Develop a strategic plan for the TCC, defining objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and milestones, in alignment with the Group CIO and his executive leadership

Work with central functions to develop the physical infrastructure, equipment, and facilities to support TCC operations

Oversee the set-up and develop a fit-for purpose operating model across management, technology teams and supporting staff in alignment with Group leadership and global practices

Develop ways of working that ensure the TCC effectively delivers and enhances existing Group Technology capability, working closely with Tech management and other global functions

Leadership and Team Management:

Work with central HR and Group Technology functions to deliver on targeted capacity ramp-up in the TCC.

Build a high-performing team by recruiting and motivating individuals across Group Technology functions – supporting front-end customer experience, data, applications, integration, business foundations, infrastructure, and operations.

Provide guidance to team members, fostering a collaborative and creative work culture that values innovation, continuous improvement, and user-centricity.

Work with the central HR function, local HR BP, and local agencies to develop a compelling and competitive employee value proposition.

Operations and Budget Management:
-
Monitor key performance metrics, track progress, and provide regular reports to executive leadership.

Oversee day-to-day operations of the TCC, ensuring efficient resource utilization.

Ensure effective financial resource management (budget planning, forecasting, expense control) to ensure the TCC's sustainability and growth.

Partner with dedicated local staff like Finance, HR, and Facility Management, designing and securing a high-performing collaboration framework and operations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership, central functions, Regions and Maisons to build the reputation of the TCC as a trusted centre for sought-after capabilities.

Collaborate closely with product owners to ensure seamless coordination and delivery solutions.

Establish local strategic alliances and partnerships to leverage resources, drive innovation, and enhance the TCC’s reputation.

Represent Richemont in the local tech ecosystem (industry events, conferences, universities etc.) to enhance visibility and forge connections with sector players.

Vendor Management:

Manage relationships with key local and regional vendors supporting Richemont Tech, ensuring performances and effective collaboration with internal employees.

Oversee the development and performance management of local vendors supporting TCC recruiting, branding, facilities, and other services.

Business Enablement & Innovation:

Cultivate a culture of innovation and technological excellence within the TCC, promoting continuous learning and experimentation.

Work with Group Technology functions to identify emerging capabilities needed to serve the technology, trends, and consumer preferences in the luxury retail space, and integrate them into the TCC's initiatives.

Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing among TCC employees, luxury brands, start-ups, and industry experts to drive creativity and innovation.

HOW WILL YOU EXPERIENCE SUCCESS WITH US?
The role requires proven experience and maturity in the below skills:
-
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

Extensive experience in managing and leading technology-driven initiatives, innovation centres, or tech hubs with a focus on software development.

Proven track record of successful implementation and scaling of technology initiatives or digital transformations is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of full omnichannel experiences, including consumer trends, digital transformation, and the intersection of technology and luxury as well as physical and digital.

Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing teams (recruiting, mentoring, culture-setting).
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to drive followership and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Experience in deploying Agile or DevOps methodologies at scale.

Strategic mindset with the ability to solve complex problems.
-
Proficiency in budget planning and financial management, ensuring the effective utilization of resources.

Experience with managing partnerships with technology vendors.

Fluency in English and Portuguese is a must, fluency in French is an asset.
