THE TEAM


The Open Innovation team at Farfetch is a lean team of innovation experts engaging with internal stakeholders and best-in-class tech startups to identify, evaluate and deploy new growth opportunities and technologies that will continue revolutionizing the luxury sector.

We provide insights and strategic recommendations, drive pilot execution, and connect across functions within the Farfetch Group to pursue innovation at scale through a build-buy-partner approach.


We are executing across various focuses, from 3D and Digital Fashion to AI and many other emerging and established opportunity areas.

The Open Innovation team is part of the Group Industry Relations Function. Your role will be pivotal in driving the Open Innovation agenda for the Farfetch Group.

THE ROLE


Reporting to our Head of Open Innovation, in this role you'll be part of the Open Innovation team and have the opportunity to drive Farfetch's innovation and engagement with startups and the wider startup community.

Armed with a deep understanding of the company's strategy and roadmap, you'll produce insights, match opportunities to needs, and introduce 'blue sky' disruptive technology for evaluation and deployment.

WHAT YOU ́LL DO

  • Proactively identify trends and technologies shaping the digital experiences, communicating through tangible insights and influencing the uptake of open innovation initiatives across the company
  • Develop and present comprehensive innovation strategies aligned with the company's key strategic initiatives and business goals.
  • Operate as a strategic thought partner to business units and stakeholders across the Farfetch Group, translating their needs into actionable criteria for scouting interesting companies.
  • Identify bestinclass technology or a combination of solutions from the startup ecosystem to develop innovative digital experiences that resonate with the luxury sector.
  • Develop the proof of concept process from initial evaluation to delivery planning and performance assessment, guided by Farfetch's build/buy/partner framework, a clear set of KPIs, and a strong business case
  • Monitor actual performance of initiatives and develop iterative recommendations based on collected data insights to meet commercial objectives
  • Define and implement a path to scale for successful POCs by partnering with teams across Farfetch to integrate and transition these technologies to ongoing business owners
  • Ensure that all external engagement is mutually beneficial and that the interests of the entrepreneurs we work with are met.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You are able to operate autonomously with strong problemsolving and prioritization skills
  • You are analytical, commercially focused, and a strategic thinker
  • You are able to concisely and logically communicate insights or arguments, whether verbally (including in meetings), in writing, or through Executivelevel, professional presentations
  • You have a positive, collaborative, and engaging approach to working with colleagues and startups and have strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • You have a broad understanding of technology and are able to collaborate with technology teams effectively
  • You are comfortable leading and managing crossfunctional, often very complex, projects.
  • You are passionate about revolutionizing the luxury industry through innovation
  • You understand the entrepreneurship world, gained either as a startup founder or from a role within an accelerator, incubator, VC firm, or similar.
  • You have a minimum of 8 years of work experience either in a startup or corporate innovation role and a track record of successful gotomarket on innovation projects
  • Experience in ecommerce and the luxury industry is a plus.
