Overview


As the Art Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of artists and designers, contributing to the creative direction of projects, and maintaining the quality of artwork produced.

Your exceptional leadership, artistic expertise, and strategic thinking will play a crucial role in shaping the company's creative vision and driving the artistic direction of our games, ultimately elevating the overall player experience.

Responsibilities

  • Report to and work closely with the Director of Creative Innovation to define and execute the company's artistic vision and overall creative strategy for our Games portfolio.
  • Take ownership of key projects and deliverables (ie: be hands on), creating high quality art, animation, effects to enhance our game experiences
  • Drive continuous improvement in art quality and aesthetics, ensuring alignment with industry trends and player preferences.
  • Lead and mentor a talented team of game artists, fostering a collaborative and inspiring environment that encourages growth, innovation, and artistic excellence.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for the art team and provide regular feedback (via weekly 1x1s and quarterly performance evaluations) to drive individual and team success.
  • Collaborate with game designers, developers, and other key stakeholders across the organization to conceptualize and integrate art seamlessly into the overall game design, user experience, and narrative.
  • Maintain consistency in art style and ensure adherence to the established visual guidelines throughout the development process.
  • Oversee the art team's pipeline and partner with web developers to ensure seamless art implementation
  • Work in partnership with Project Managers to allocate resources to ensure the timely completion of projects.
  • Identify potential artistic challenges early in the development cycle and propose innovative solutions to maintain project timelines and quality standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in fine arts, Game Design, or a related field with at least 5 years of experience in game art development, including 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in 2D and 3D art in Unity, with a strong understanding of various art styles, color theory, composition, and animation.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of artists, with a track record of effectively managing projects from concept to completion. Ability to lead and manage a team of artists and collaborate closely with other departments within the company.
  • Creative Vision: A keen eye for visual detail and the ability to translate abstract ideas into tangible and captivating art concepts.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with crossfunctional teams and present ideas to stakeholders. Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fastpaced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and project requirements. Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Passion for Gaming: A genuine passion for casual games and a strong desire to create memorable player experiences through exceptional art.
