An exciting opportunity has arisen in Airbus Portugal for an Head of Operational Excellence (reporting to the HO Operations), leading a team of 15+ accountable to drive the execution of business process standardization, automation and continuous improvement.


  • Lead a team of transition managers & MFTs to ensure a smooth and efficient transition to the GBS:
  • He or she will lead the design and development of a standard transition methodology, ensuring that it effectively supports the smooth and timely delivery of the GBS transition roadmap.
  • Tracking the progress of the global transition roadmap and directing the corrective actions in the event of under performance
  • Collaboration across key stakeholders (Operations Lead, HR, IT) for GBS transition program success
  • Ensure appropriate leadership skills are present at every level through creating a motivational and supportive work environment in which employees are coached, trained and provided with career opportunities through development
  • Allocate the different projects/programs and work streams to the respective teams and employees considering experience, project complexity, workload and organizational efficiency
  • Drive process streamlining, harmonization and standardization.
  • Develop and deploy a transformation / digital roadmap applicable to all functions, develop digitization solutions to replace or to upgrade existing solutions (Excel, VBAs etc) with automation (RPA, OCR, AI/ML, Process Mining etc)
  • Promote, educate and continually increase awareness of the automation capabilities in the GBS
  • Build strategic internal and external partnerships to enable innovation, scale and speed.
  • Actively participate and/or lead automation opportunity discussions with the relevant stakeholders
  • Orchestrate and provide transparency on transformation progress, ensuring the focus and priorities needed
  • Drive mindset of continuous improvement as a culture of the GBS, through deployment of dedicated methodologies (e.g. Value Stream Mapping, Lean Six Sigma, green / yellow / black belt etc.)

Requirements:

  • 510 yrs experience in designing and deploying automation / next generation digital capabilities (Intelligent Automation, RPA, OCR, AI/ML, Process Mining, Analytics etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to deliver multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting challenging deadlines.
  • Positive, collaborative and solutionoriented attitude
  • Robust analytical and critical thinking capabilities with strong process orientation and effective decision making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills to motivate, coach and develop teams with different backgrounds.
  • Energetic and assertive, collaborative, resilient and motivated by challenges
  • English mandatory (fluency in other languages will be a plus)
  • Preference for experience in a Consulting firm or GBS context
  • Knowledgeable in Business Process Reengineering / Lean Methods (e.g. Six Sigma, Agile, Value Stream Mapping, Scrum or another of equal value)
  • Knowledge of Finance (R2R, P2P and O2C), Procurement and HR Services (H2R, T2R) processes and ability to manage transition projects in these areas.
  • Ideally PMI certified
