The role
Supervision of the Accounting activities linked with General Ledger and Intercompany.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily performance of the Accountants and workload allocation;
  • Maintain track of KPI's and SLA's;
  • Responsible for training and coaching the Team;
  • Manage career reviews and people development;
  • Act as expert of General Ledger and Intercompany tools;
  • Approver of supplier and employees data base;
  • Responsible of monthly close activities;
  • Ensure Balance Sheet accounts are fully reconciled and approved timely;
  • Support internal and external audit activities;
  • Review of the Trial Balance prior to the Ledger closing;
  • Be a motor of continuous process improvement;
  • Analysis and preparation of management information reports as requested;
  • Ensure the accuracy of accounting postings and compliance with accounting rules and internal accounting policy and delegated authority matrix;
  • Responsible for all procedures being documented and updated;
  • Assist Line Manager on deliveries to the Reporting Teams;
  • Act as backup of Accounts Payable, Cash Management & Treasury activities.

You will ideally:

  • Have a degree qualification in Economic/Administrative/Accounting area or equivalent;
  • Consolidated knowledge of the concepts of Income Statement and Balance Sheet;
  • Fluent in English (another European language such as Spanish, French, Dutch or German will be an added value);
  • Good interpersonal and Leadership skills;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, structured and autonomous working style;
  • Results driven, with the energy and determination to succeed in a very fast paced environment where the pace and quality of response are critical to success;
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and plan workload to meet deadlines;
  • Curious, willing to learn and showing a challenging conventions spirit;
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships in and outside Hiscox and manage different level of stakeholders;
  • Good analytical skills;
  • Critical thinking and a can do attitude;
  • Ability to manage the relationship with the different stakeholders, and professionally firm and determined to assure accounting rules are met;
  • Be organised, efficient and logical in the way you carry out your work.

Professional

  • Experience of working in an office environment, ideally in a multinational and multi lingual environment;
  • Previous experience in in a similar role;
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) will be an added value;
  • Ability and energy to meet all the Accounting deadlines that impact the reporting submission;
  • Focus on making an impact in the area displayed by an eagerness to make a difference, even under pressure;
  • Ability to understand the Finance model for the business area and company vision.
  • Challenge conventions to increase efficiency and quality of Financial support;
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel (Advanced). VBA is an added value;
  • Knowledge of Oracle or similar ERP is a plus;
  • Good and quick adaptation to internal systems.
