Overview

Rapiscan Systems, a subsidiary of OSI Systems, Inc., specializes in manufacturing and distributing security and inspection systems globally. Their products play a critical role in screening baggage, cargo, individuals, and vehicles for various contraband items such as weapons and narcotics. These cutting-edge security solutions are utilized across diverse settings including airports, border crossings, and government facilities.

Role overview:

This position involves the installation, servicing, and maintenance support of Rapiscan X-RAY screening systems. The primary focus will be on providing assistance for all X-ray and Trace product lines of Rapiscan systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct installation, commissioning, and service support for Rapiscan's X-ray and Trace systems at Lisbon Airport.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on-site.
  • Collaborate with IT Specialists on Server setup and PLC engineers for integration and commissioning purposes.
  • Carry out service site surveys before installations and generate professional site reports.
  • Execute all preventive and corrective maintenance operations and respond to call-outs as required.
  • Participate in shift patterns to offer support at key customer sites.
  • Provide remote technical assistance to Distributors engineers and customers.
  • Engage with internal departments, customers, and Distributors on service-related issues, offering guidance when necessary.
  • Ensure prompt submission of service reports and non-conformance reports when needed.
  • Provide regular feedback to Engineering, Product Line Management, and QA for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in other ad-hoc duties within the department, including special projects.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety protocols at the company and customer sites.
  • Tasks may be adjusted or reassigned at any time to suit business requirements.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills with a focus on clear and effective written and verbal communication to customers and stakeholders.
  • Experience in configuring and troubleshooting MS Windows-based servers and workstations is highly advantageous.
  • Prior knowledge of high-end X-ray systems or computed tomography is a significant plus.
  • Experience in programming PLCs is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Past involvement in a field service engineer role.
  • Flexible approach to project changes and efficient responses to adjustments.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Keen aptitude for learning and improving skills.
  • Essential requirement to obtain airport security passes (some may require a Criminal Record check).

  • Knowledge, Training, and Qualifications if required:

  • Electrical Diploma with a minimum of 4-5 years in field experience or a BSc Eng with 2-3 years in field experience.
  • Proficiency in English: Spoken, Written, and communication skills.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Electrical engineering is desirable.
  • Recognized qualification in IT (Microsoft, Cisco, etc.) is a significant advantage.
  • General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, civil, hydraulic, and electronic systems, or expertise in complex electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Familiarity with HV Systems in Medical or Industrial engineering discipline.
