Role Overview:

The CAD Deputy Discipline Manager oversees the local CAD Office or a segment of a larger CAD Office. Their role involves guiding, cultivating, communicating, and implementing the company's strategies and goals. They contribute to internal business growth and marketing efforts among employees and externally to clients. Responsibilities include playing a part in departmental strategy development, organizational structure, personnel management, procedural enhancements, and service delivery. Duties may encompass business expansion, financial control, project and resource supervision, engineering operations, performance evaluation, training, and other relevant business activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the CAD office team to ensure top-notch work and service delivery.
  • Determine project resource needs and manage allocations using company tools.
  • Provide input for project CTR estimates within the department.
  • Review the work of others for accuracy.
  • Evaluate resource requests and offer feedback on feasibility.
  • Play a role in staff recruitment processes, ensuring thorough screening.
  • Independently organize and prioritize work for oneself and team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for team members.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards among department personnel.
  • Engage in technical audits of projects and studies.
  • Actively participate in relevant training and development activities for continuous professional growth.
  • Identify, evaluate, and endorse training opportunities for team members.
  • Contribute to the review and enhancement of departmental procedures and workflows.
  • Collaborate with discipline leads and group leads to ensure timely CAD deliverables and adherence to budgets.
  • Ensure design services comply with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage internal and external interfaces of the CAD Office.
  • Support the development of departmental structure and succession planning.
  • Accurately record and approve departmental time allocations.
  • Encourage the documentation of lessons learned and improvement opportunities.

Profile:

  • Hold a Mechanical or Structural Engineering degree (other degrees may be considered);
  • Possess a minimum of 12 years of professional experience;
  • Have at least 2 years of leadership and team management experience, demonstrating the ability to lead a design team across multiple projects;
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with other disciplines/departments;
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in team development, training, and mentoring;
  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD, Vault & Inventor software, as well as MS Office;
  • Possess solid knowledge of steel structures design and installation methodologies (experience in the offshore energy sector is advantageous);
  • Approach problem-solving with attention to detail and a critical mindset;
  • Work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary team environment;
  • Must have proficient English language skills (both in comprehension and communication);
