THE ROLE


As an Engineering Lead in the Platform Services area, you will lead a team of engineers working under a critical environment.

The area serves as a backbone of our Tech Platform being responsible for several technologies that are crucial to the success of FARFETCH's business.

The team is part of Tech Platform Services, a group focused on delivering key infrastructure services and products with efficiency, resiliency and scalability.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Inspire, lead and manage a team of individual contributors, setting clear expectations, providing mentorship and guidance, and fostering a culture of growth and continuous learning
  • Develop and implement strategic roadmaps for improving system performance and enhancing observability
  • Act as the key interface between our team and the rest of the organisation, ensuring that performance and observability goals are aligned with broader company objectives
  • Drive technical initiatives that improve the scalability, reliability, cost optimisation and efficiency of our systems, ensuring our platform is prepared for highstakes sale seasons
  • Be accountable for team budgeting execution
  • Engage with architects and engineering teams to understand their needs, and tailor our services to meet these requirements
  • Monitor system performance, managing any issues or potential improvements in collaboration with the relevant teams
  • Promote and create supporting models and documentation in order to establish a more organised culture around platform reliability support
  • Drive meetings that align reliability and support focus between different stakeholders teams, such as service management and vertical teams
  • Assure your team's health by holding development conversations, understanding people's status, ways to move forward, and evaluation cycles

WHO YOU ARE

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience as an Engineering Lead or similar role
  • Experienced with people reporting and development processes
  • Technical understanding and handson experience in DevOps engineering
  • Exceptional roadmap management abilities
  • Proven experience in working with Agile methodologies, and in using agile flow metrics in order to help the team have a sustainable and healthy workflow
  • Strong growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and learning
  • Proven experience engaging with diverse teams including architects and engineers
  • Used to document your designs, plans and developments and base your communication with others on those assets
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English conversations, reading and writing
