AWS Senior Cloud EngineerLocation: Lisbon, Portugal (Hybrid – 3 days on-site)Industry: InsuranceSeniority: SeniorExperience Level: 5+ yearsRole OverviewWe are looking for a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to collaborate closely with a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) in defining, implementing, and enforcing best practices for cloud operations. This is a full-time, time-and-materials engagement within the insurance domain, operating in a hybrid model with on-site presence required three days per week in Lisbon.The role focuses on supporting new initiatives through architectural guidance, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments, and leading incident response and problem-resolution activities in mission-critical environments.Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) to define, standardize, and enforce AWS operational best practices.Design and implement scalable, secure cloud architectures aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and AWS CloudFormation).Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated and reliable deployments.Lead troubleshooting, incident response, and root-cause analysis for critical AWS workloads.Ensure compliance with enterprise security, governance, and regulatory standards.Optimize AWS environments for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.Required Technical SkillsStrong hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and related cloud-native components.Advanced proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.Practical experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and AWS CodePipeline.Solid background in monitoring, observability, and performance optimization within AWS environments.Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical efforts under high-pressure conditions.Preferred / Nice-to-HaveAWS Certified Solutions Architect – ProfessionalAWS Certified SysOps AdministratorTerraform certificationQualifications & Experience5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or related technical roles.Senior-level experience designing, deploying, and operating AWS solutions in enterprise-scale environments.
