This role involves work as Local controllers and coordinating and ensuring the statutory audits, managing local tax processes, and reviewing financial data and collaborating with other finance teams in the country. The financial controller is also responsible for coordinating with JLL Shared Services teams.Key Responsibilities:Lead and oversee monthly accounting procedures; ensure timely completion and accuracy of financial results, including all aspects of the balance sheet and P&L reviews.Control and coordinate local finance team with Corporate shared services and assure quality and service delivery.Preparation of financial statements for statutory filings under local GAAP.Ensure adherence to Group finance and U.S. GAAP accounting policies, including revenue and expense recognition, compensation arrangements, leases, and foreign currency translation.Manage local relationships with the external audit firm; ensure efficient and effective execution of procedures performed by both external audit firms and Global Internal Audit.Attend to requests from Financial teams over finance issues: cash, guarantees, finance terms on the contract, and other local requests.Ensure robust controls and procedures are designed and effectively operating, in support of JLL's obligations to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.Provide guidance and insight to the business as applicable, which may include participating in the structuring of transactions and other ad-hoc projects or new required implementations, collaborating with Cluster Controller on the projects.Participate in controller meetings to address accounting concerns, and share best practices and initiatives as guided by the Cluster leader and EMEA regional finance team.Accounting and Auditing:Perform journal entries, review and coordinate with GL dedicated teams to ensure MEC procedures at monthly closing.Coordinate and participate in statutory audits with external auditors, including the preparation of financial statements for Portuguese Legal entities.Work with Local controllers for statutory filings under local GAAP.Review and participate in tax processes and local requirements (e.g., VAT, CIT, WHT), coordinating with local teams and EMEA tax team, ensuring monthly SAFT reporting.Coordinate with the Centers Of Expertise Revenue team to provide guidance and insight to the business as applicable.Ensure completion of MEC procedures, reporting to the Cluster Controller, and informing on closing group requirements.Review reconciliations and internal processes by JBS teams to ensure efficiency. Review and complete complex reconciliations.Ask for MPR related to taxes or other local payment requests. Ensure approvals to JBS teams to proceed with payments and reconciliation.Participate in controller meetings to address accounting concerns, and share best practices and initiatives as guided by the Cluster leader and EMEA regional finance team.Keep updated information with the Local HR and Legal team to ensure the accountancy and evaluation of relevant topics.Analysis:Perform journal entries, review, and coordinate with GL dedicated teams to ensure MEC procedures at monthly closing.Review specific queries and reports at the country level, review figures on P&L, and especially focus on the balance sheet.Collaborate with all local and international finance teams to ensure MEC closing procedure. Keep closing meetings for coordination.Team Management:Coordinate Local Controllers to ensure acting in coordination with other controllers.Establish relationships across Finance teams locally, with JLL business lines and support functions.Support and participate in the relationships across Cluster finance teams.Strategic thought; keenly focused on finance controls and governance. Actively communicate Policies and best practices.Maintain Employee's WorkDay profiles and provide approvals on the tool.Support the growth, learning, and development of the local Controllership team.Skills/Competences:Degree in accounting, finance, or management.5-6 years of experience in auditing, preferably in a multinational enterprise environment. Previous B4 experience is considered a plus.Deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to communicate key issues to finance, business support unit, and business leadership.Demonstrates experience in performing in-depth accounting research and analysis.Strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, the ability to build consensus, and leadership skills in a collaborative setting.Ability to maintain focus and balance in high-stress situations and extended periods of change.Experience working with shared services and multilocation is a plus.Analytical skills and advanced Excel user.Team player with excellent organization, communication, and negotiation skills.Strong knowledge of local tax requirements (e.g., VAT, CIT, WHT), SAFT, and local tax systems.Fluent in English.Location: Onsite – Lisbon, PortugalIf this job description resonates with you, we encourage you to apply, even if you don’t meet all the requirements.
