If you have the desire to be a part of an exciting, challenging, and rapidly-growing Snowflake consulting services company, and if you are passionate about making a difference in this world, join Hakkoda Role Description: We are seeking a dedicated and well-organized Accounting & People Operations Specialist to handle all things accounting, payroll, and people operations for Hakkoda's Portuguese entity, which was established in 2023. This is a unique role that encompasses aspects from multiple departments, including accounting, payroll and HR, people operations, and administration. The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting, knowledge of payroll and benefits in Portugal, can perform HR/administrative tasks, and act as the main point of contact for our domestic office in Lisbon, Portugal. You will need to successfully liaise with external partners and government institutions and have a solid working knowledge of Portuguese Labor Law.
Accounting/Payroll Responsibilities: - Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner, including calculating wages, deductions, and bonuses (currently 15 employees in Portugal).
- Ensure compliance with Portuguese labor law and other relevant regulations.
- Handle payroll queries and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Prepare and maintain payroll records and reports.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll processes.
- Assist with accounts payable transactions and processing invoices for the Portuguese entity.
- Treasury support for the Portuguese entity. - Including cash projections, processing payments, payroll funding, and bank reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and reports under the guidance of the senior accountant.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations including the preparation of VAT returns.
HR/Operations Responsibilities: - Own core people operations tasks for our Portuguese entity, such as onboarding and offboarding, employee data management, and benefits administration.
- Support and collaborate with other HR resources as needed .
- Support Talent Acquisition Partner with setting up interviews, new hire contracts and offer letters.
- Assist with HR Audits and documentation reviews.
- Stay updated on changes to labor laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Provide administrative support to team members as needed, and act as the main contact person for our employees in Portugal at our domestic office in Lisbon, Portugal.
- Understand employee sentiment at our Portuguese entity, escalating issues and enabling the teams for success.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or similar field .
- Bilingual in Portuguese and English (both verbal and written).
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in payroll processing/accounting/Human Resources related roles.
- Strong understanding of Portuguese labor law and regulations, tax compliance.
- Experience handling full cycle payroll processes for Portugal employees, as well as registration and deregistration of employees with relevant local authorities.
- Experience working with global teams and stakeholders from different areas.
- Successfully liaise with external partners, such as benefits providers, consultants, payroll providers, lawyers and government institutions.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, communicate complex concepts, be self-directed and self-motivated.
