We are looking for a Sous-Chef to join our pre-opening team at Andaz Lisbon. Expected to open in Q3 2025, Andaz Lisbon will offer guests an exciting new luxury lifestyle hotel in the Portuguese capital – and it will represent a key milestone in Hyatt's continued brand growth in Southern Europe. Located in the center of Lisbon's bustling Baixa district, the hotel will be comprised of five separate buildings, including the former offices of one of the major banks in Portugal, Banco Português de Investimento (BPI). This unique Urban Resort will allow guests to fully embrace the locale and experience authentic Lisbon.
About the roleThe Sous-Chef is to manage a specific department and work with the Executive Chef to create, implement and maintain quality standards. The ideal Sous Chef will accomplish their tasks by monitoring the daily functions of the culinary department, including providing support and guidance to the culinary team, ensuring a positive guest experience. Responsibilities include assisting in food planning, preparation, and production, as well as menu development, food specifications, recipes, and supervising Chef de Partie and Commis. The Sous Chef will also monitor food and labour budgets for the department while maintaining the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards.
QualificationsIn-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operationsStrong leadership, communication, organization, and relationship skillsExperience with training, basic financial management, and customer serviceA true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced customer service environmentCapable of producing a consistent product in a timely mannerStrong training and communication skillsCulinary education and/or on-the-job training, hotel experience preferredAbility to create innovative and seasonal menusExperience in leading, training, and motivating a kitchen teamStrong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standardsStrong planning and organizational skills to run a streamlined operationProblem-solving ability to resolve issues as they arisePre-Opening Experience an advantageIf this sounds interesting, go ahead - click and apply We look forward to hearing from you
