Admission requirements
Graduates in Geography or related areas who are enrolled in Master's programmes at Higher Education Institutions may apply for this competition. The successful candidate must have the following requirements:
A degree in Geography or a related field;
Be enrolled in a Master's programme at a Higher Education Institution;
Have knowledge of soil cartography;
Have experience of using GIS and spatial modelling.
Eligibility of applicants
Applicants must meet the eligibility conditions set out in Article 9 of the FCT I.P. Research Grant Regulations (Regulation no. 950/2019, published in Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 241 on 16 December 2021).
Project Summary
Exploratory analysis and proposal for a Soil Suitability Map for the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Territory.
Work programme
The grantee's work plan is as follows:
Updating the Land Use Capacity Chart.
Estimating carbon storage.
Assessing the ecological value of the soil.

Additional Information Duration of the grant
The research grant will last for 6 (six) months and may be renewed. The grant is scheduled to start in December 2024, and the duties will be carried out on an exclusive dedication basis.
Selection methods
The applicable selection method will be curricular assessment of the candidates. Assessment parameters: The curricular assessment (CA) comprises the following parameters:
Degree classification (30%)
Curriculum Vitae (40%);
Knowledge/experience of risks, GIS and spatial modelling (30%);
The selection board may, if it deems it necessary, call the candidates placed in the first 3 positions for an interview. In this case, the interview will have a weight of 30 per cent, to be added to the score obtained in the first selection phase, which will have a weight of 70 per cent. The interview will take place on a date and at a time to be communicated to the candidates in due course. The jury may not award a grant if the candidates do not match the desired profile.
How the results will be publicised/notified
The final results of the assessment will be communicated to the candidates by means of a notification sent to the email address indicated for this purpose. If the result is unfavourable to the award of the grant requested, the candidates have a period of 10 working days to express their opinion, if they wish, at a prior hearing for interested parties, under the terms of articles 121 and 122 of the Code of Administrative Procedure (DL no. 4/2015 of 7 January and its amendments). The selected candidate must express their intention to accept the scholarship in writing. In the event of non-acceptance, the grant will be awarded to the candidate in order of final ranking.

With regard to the qualification certificate, if the degree was obtained at a foreign institution, it must be recognised by a Portuguese institution in accordance with Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16 August and Ministerial Order no. 33/2019 of 25 January, as amended on the date of application);
Proof of enrolment in a Master's programme;
Other supporting documents deemed relevant;
Declaration of prior consent to communication by electronic means.
