What you will be doingWe are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Tech Team.We work cross-functionally, and you'll actively be involved in collaborating on both the design and implementation of systems that aid in the detection of financial risks. These systems require high-performance throughput for both real-time and batch processing, calling for scalability to be at the forefront of our engineering practices.As an Engineering Manager, you willTake ownership for your team, being responsible for current team members growth and development, plus hiring and onboarding new team membersCreate a positive environment where your team members thrive to deliver best outcomes and innovationsBe a role model for your team, mentoring and coaching them, whilst having a learning mindset yourself, being open to new ideas and technologiesSet the direction for your team and take accountability for tech decisionsWork alongside with your product counterpart, being accountable for delivery against the roadmapCollaborate, both within your team and across the tribe to ensure your team's implementation meets industry standardsReport to the Director of Engineering, and will work with the other Engineering Managers in the tribe. Working as a group, you will own cross-team initiatives and improvements.Our Tech Stack:Our technology stack is designed to run on public cloud architectures, notably AWS and GCPDevelopment is organised around Kotlin and Python for our backend languages and TypeScript/ES6+React for our frontend stackWe make substantial use of relational database technologies, notably Postgres, YugabyteWe also use an event-sourced model powered by Kafka for our communication bus and gRPC for our intra-service communication protocolWe use modern observability solutions from Grafana Cloud and deploy our code using ArgoCDWe have a strong emphasis on engineering excellence and strive to ship the best possible code and the best possible solutions to our customersAbout youAs an Engineering Manager, you will haveExperience of managing and growing high performing engineering teamsSolid knowledge of engineering best practices, including architecture and testingIn depth experience with a JVM-based language.Experience working with/building data-intensive applications and with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).Experience designing and building microservicesGood communication and writing skills including experience writing technical documentationHave worked with product and commercial organisations.Nice to haves:Experience of AWS desirable, experience of Docker/Kubernetes good to haveExperience of working in a startup/ scale up environmentBenefitsCompetitive salary aligned to your skills and experienceEquity as we want you to have a part of what we are buildingUnlimited Time Off Policy- A work-life balance and focus on our well-being are critical to keeping us performing at our bestWe embrace a hybrid approach that requires employees to be in the office for two days a week.
