Having such team also experience in the construction of more than 72,000 student accommodation beds in USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, and Nordics. With more than € 4 billion in capital invested in such track record. VALEO Groupe and its affiliates currently operates, over 8,000 beds globally with an asset value over € 600 million. In the USA through its brands EPOCH for student accommodation and Vineyard for senior living, and through its LIV Student and LIV CoLife brands in Europe, in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and in the Nordics. Valeo Groupe Europe Ltd. and Valeo Groupe Services Ltd. are affiliates of Valeo Groupe and were founded in 2015 by Valeo Partners together with several high-net-worth individuals to invest in Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) in Europe and manage such investments respectively. Valeo Management Spain, fully subsidiary of Valeo Groupe Services Ltd. was incorporated in 2018, and already developed a portfolio in Spain and Portugal of 7 properties and circa 3,000 beds including student accommodation and a coliving property, mainly through a regulated investment fund where Valeo Groupe Europe co-invests. The position is aimed for LIV Student Porto based in such city. The employee will be hired by the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) subsidiary entity of the Iberian Fund that owns the asset of Granada and for which Valeo Management Spain (local branch of VMEL) delivers the property, development and operational management services. The key responsibilities of Senior Operations Host of Porto will be as follows:
• Assist the Residence Manager in overseeing the daily operations and management of the student accommodation facility, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
• Supervise and mentor the Residence team, providing guidance, support, and training to foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Coordinate and monitor tenant move-in and move-out processes, ensuring smooth transitions and compliance with rental agreements and policies.
• Collaborate with the marketing and leasing teams to develop and implement marketing strategies, promotional campaigns, and leasing initiatives to attract and retain tenants.
• Conduct regular property inspections and maintenance checks to identify and address any maintenance issues, safety concerns, or compliance issues promptly.
• Manage tenant relations and resolve any tenant queries, concerns, or disputes in a professional and timely manner, maintaining high levels of tenant satisfaction.
• Assist in preparing and managing the property budget, monitoring expenses, and ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising on service quality.
• Assist in finance control, debt chase and organization of all aspects with financial department.
• Ensure compliance with local housing regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies and procedures.
• Participate in regular team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
• Provides professional leadership and supports the Residence Manager in operational functions.
• Provide strategic leadership when presented to the Residence Manager absence.
• Solve problems creatively to improve circumstances, situation or processes within the parameters of residence structures.
• Establishing and developing working relationships with suppliers and contractors.
• Building community spirit and relationships with students, parents and guarantors, universities, student unions, landlords, lettings agents, suppliers and local authorities.
• Representing the company at social, sales and networking events and expanding visibility of the brand with key local players.
• Stepping up to any other challenges required, commensurate with the role.
• Intensify yourself to any other necessary challenges, proportional to the role.
• Punctual travel may be required for some business visits, training or team building activities, where overnight stays may be required.
And the necessary experience and competencies for this position are:
• At least 3 years of experience in property management of hospitality industry, ideally 3 in the student accommodation sector.
• Qualifications in property management or accommodation management would be a distinct advantage.
• Experience as a tradesperson.
• Have excellent judgement, communication, relationship building and management skills.
• Be able to manage a team in a hospitality environment.
• Be organised, hardworking, honest and enthusiastic.
• Have a hands-on, proactive attitude and plenty of practical / maintenance skills.
• Be positive and have an empathetic attitude / sociable and fun personality with strong commercial acumen and knowledge of property legislation.
• Be reliable, collaborative and trustworthy with great people skills.
• Be able to manage the commercial aspects of running a location, such as balancing profit and loss or running our revenue generators, such as a café or restaurant onsite.
• Be computer literate (European Computer Driving Licence / Microsoft user level).
• Have a smart, professional appearance and manner.
Languages
• Portuguese and Fluent English (Spanish mainly and other European languages would also be beneficial).
