CALL FOR APPLICATION FOR A RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP
A call for tenders is now open for the attribution of one Research Scholarship within the scope of the Project "BE@T – Bioeconomy for Textiles and Clothing, investment TC-C12-i01 – Sustainable Bioeconomy," financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), under the following conditions.
Scientific area: Chemistry.
Admission requirements:
General requirements:
Candidates for the Research grant must hold a master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Textile Engineering, or related areas.
Specific requirements:
Candidates must have knowledge/research experience in the following areas: infrared spectroscopy and chemometrics.
Preferred Factors:
Good command of the English language.
Experience in research projects.
Evidence of international scientific publications.
Candidates for the Research scholarship must also be enrolled or commit to enrolling in a course that does not lead to an academic degree that promotes the consolidation of their scientific training.
Work Plan:
The activity to be developed by the scholarship holder is part of the research project PRR- Bioeconomy for the Textile and Clothing Sector. The main goal is to develop a suitable methodology based on infrared spectroscopy to identify natural and artificial fibers with natural origin. The Research Fellow will participate in all project tasks, from literature review to research data collection and analysis, and writing articles for peer-reviewed international journals.
Workplace:
The work will be developed at the CBQF - Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto, under the scientific supervision of Clara Santana Sousa.
Duration of the scholarship:
The scholarship, expected to begin on December 15, 2024, will have a duration of 12 months on an exclusive basis.
Monthly maintenance allowance amount:
The amount of the scholarship corresponds to 1259.64€, according to the research scholarship values awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the Country.
Selection methods:
The selection methods will be: i) curriculum (40%); ii) previous experience (60%). If necessary, the 3 best positioned candidates may be interviewed, with weighting as follows: curricular evaluation (35%), previous experience (50%), and selection interview (15%). Only candidates with a final classification equal to or greater than 70% will be selected for this position.
Applications that do not meet the admission requirements, delivered late, or are incomplete will be considered ineligible.
Composition of the Selection Jury: President of the Jury: Prof. Manuela Pintado; Effective Members: Doctor Clara Sousa and Prof. Pedro Rodrigues; Substitute Jury: Prof. António Rangel.
Form of advertising/notification of results:
The jury will deliberate according to the selection criteria adopted. The jury meetings minutes will summarize the meeting content. After applying the selection criteria, the jury will create an ordered list with the ranking of approved candidates. The ranking list will be published at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and candidates will be notified of their position via email.
Complaint and appeal procedures:
Candidates have ten working days after the disclosure of results to provide their opinion at a prior hearing.
Deadline for acceptance of the scholarship:
Within ten working days following notification of the grant award, the selected candidate must confirm in writing their availability to start the scholarship on the proposed date.
Application deadline and form of submission:
Candidates submit their application from November 5, 2024, until November 19, 2024 (until 5 pm, Lisbon time). Applications are formalized by completing the Application Form .
It will be necessary to submit the following documents:
Cover letter identifying the title and reference of the project, describing the motivation and professional objectives of the candidate.
Detailed Curriculum Vitae including elements to assess the admission requirements.
Copy of the certificate(s) of qualifications conferring the requested academic degree.
Proof of enrollment in a course that does not award an academic degree or declaration of commitment to enroll.
Only applications received during the opening period will be considered. Candidates who incorrectly formalize their application or do not prove the requirements will be excluded.
