Offer Description The post-doctoral position at the Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses (LNCMI) - Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Grenoble, is in experimental physics for solid-state compounds. The research activities will comprise magneto-optical experiments on novel low-dimensional materials.
The successful candidate will support external users of LNCMI and the in-house research program in the field of electronic and optical properties of novel low-dimensional magnetic materials (from 0D to 2D and quasi-2D materials, and topological matter). This role requires work during nights and weekends to assist external users in the realization of proposed experiments.
The successful candidate will be embedded within the Semiconductor and Nanophysics group (currently consisting of 8 members) and will collaborate closely with the Molecular Magnetism group (4 permanent members). They are also expected to interact with permanent research staff, postdoctoral fellows, and PhD students of the Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses in Grenoble (LNCMI). The LNCMI is a host laboratory for experiments in high dc magnetic fields (currently up to 37T), and scientific activities involve both in-house and collaborative research. Access to high-magnetic-field facilities is possible after submission of experiment proposals and their selection by an international committee. The LNCMI in Grenoble is also a member of the European Magnetic Field Laboratory, providing opportunities to learn about physics in high magnetic fields in a European and worldwide context.
Required Qualifications:
Experience in magneto-optical spectroscopy in the infrared and/or visible spectral range (FTIR, absorption, reflectivity luminescence, absorption, Raman scattering, High-Frequency EPR).
Solid knowledge in condensed-matter physics (semiconductors & semimetals, magnetic properties of molecules).
