We are seeking a General Manager for our Viceroy at Ombria Algarve resort.
This sumptuous and secluded resort features 76 luxe guestrooms and suites, 65 residences, and a landmark 18-hole golf course – all surrounded by miles of citrus groves, fig and carob trees, small farms, and inland villages with cobblestone streets.
The General Manager will act as the strategic business leader working closely with the Corporate Office and Hotel Executive committee to create the most outstanding resort experience.
This role will be responsible for the oversight of the overall operating performance, guest satisfaction, and financial results for the property.
In addition, the General Manager will build and maintain a strong relationship with the property ownership group and asset managers, through personal engagement and open and transparent communication.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership: Develop and execute the resort's strategic vision, in alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
Provide guidance and leadership to all departments, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.Guest Experience: Ensure the delivery of unparalleled guest experiences, exceeding expectations and maintaining the resort's reputation as a premier luxury destination.
Implement and maintain service standards across all areas of the resort.Operations Management: Oversee all operational aspects of the resort, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, spa and wellness, recreational facilities, and other guest amenities.
Ensure efficient and effective utilization of resources to achieve operational excellence.Financial Performance: Develop and manage the resort's annual budget, monitor financial performance, and implement strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.
Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.Team Management: Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of department heads and employees.
Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and employee growth.
Set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.Sales and Marketing: Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement effective strategies to drive occupancy and revenue.
Identify target markets and develop promotional campaigns to attract high-end clientele.Health, Safety, and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local regulations, health, safety, and environmental standards.
Implement and monitor procedures to safeguard the well-being of guests and employees.
Take appropriate action in case of emergencies or crisis situations.Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including owners, investors, local authorities, and community representatives.
Represent the resort in public forums and industry events.
Qualifications And RequirementsBachelor's degree or equivalent in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).Extensive experience in luxury hotel or resort management, with a minimum of 10 years in executive-level positions.Proven track record of successfully managing and operating luxury resorts or hotels.Previous experience running a hotel/resort with golf operations strongly preferred.Strong business acumen and financial management skills.Exceptional leadership abilities with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse workforce.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.In-depth knowledge of the luxury hospitality industry and emerging trends.Fluency in English and Portuguese (additional languages are a plus).Previous experience working with Home Owners Associations requiredAbility to work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.Flexibility to travel as required.
