Due to an internal move of one of our teachers, St. Julian's School is seeking to appoint a highly committed and suitably qualified Teacher of German to join our dedicated Modern Foreign Languages Department. At KS3, all students study French or German and Portuguese as part of a bespoke curriculum based on the National Curriculum for England, before making options choices for GCSE and then going on to study Portuguese, French, German or Spanish as part of the IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13. The ability to teach more than one language is desirable.

**About St. Julian's School**:
Founded in 1932, we are a highly successful, non-selective 3-18 British international school with a reputation for academic excellence. We currently have just over 1,200 students from over 50 different nationalities. The School has three sections: Primary, Secondary, and Portuguese. There are 640 students in the Secondary Section.

We are accredited by CIS (Council of International Schools), COBIS (Council of British International Schools) and NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges). Our Head is an International Member of HMC (Heads' Conference).

At St. Julian's, we believe in a holistic education and expect our teachers to make an active contribution to the pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school. We value skills-based learning along with meeting the rigorous requirements of the National Curriculum for England, International GCSEs, and IB Diploma Programme. St Julian's provides a 1:1 iPad programme for students in KS3 and all students bring their own laptops in KS4 and 5. We use Google Apps for Education as a learning platform. All teaching staff work with MacBooks.

**Secondary Section Teacher Job Description**:
**Core Purpose**:
To facilitate the learning of students and promote the effective development of all individuals in our learning community.

**Learning**:

- To mentor and support students in their learning
- To develop a personalised approach to learning that enables every child to succeed and understand the diverse learning capacities of students
- To develop necessary intervention in and out of the classroom where a child is not making expected progress
- To plan appropriate sequences of lessons to support student learning
- To develop appropriate ongoing assessments to enhance student learning
- Use a variety of teaching strategic fundamental to school pedagogy in ways that stimulate learning and inspire students
- Integrate technology to enhance learning

- To work with tutors and pastoral leaders to ensure that student well-being is paramount
- To liaise with the Safeguarding leads and complete the necessary referral forms if a child is deemed at risk
- Promote intercultural understanding and respect for diversity among all students.

- To identify areas of potential growth each year and commit to developing oneself in this area
- To visit other classrooms to enable sharing of good practice
- To invite peers into classroom to enable sharing of good practice
- To participate fully in professional development opportunities in and out of school
- To initiate and work on opportunities to develop own practice related to the learning essentials.
- To share professional learning with colleagues.

**Teamwork**
- To collaborate as part of a team to produce sequences of learning
- To support other colleagues to grow and develop.

**Person specifications**:
**Required**
- Ability to teach German to Key Stage 5
- A recognised teaching qualification, for example, a PGCE or a BEd
- Excellent written and spoken English.

**Desirable**
- At least three years’ experience in the UK (preferably), or
