Applications are open for one **Research Fellowship iBET**, within the framework of the project “HIDROX” (WP8|A8.2.), from VIIAFOOD Agenda, financed by the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), with the generic objectives of developing and scale-up of an advanced process for the recovery of olive oil by -products, which also includes analytical methodologies for sustainable formulations and treatment of data.

We also explore innovative solutions to detect food fraud, water and food contaminations, and the identification of new bioactive food supplements.

We offer state-of-the-art R&D infrastructure for cellular bioengineering and biology research, including flow cytometry, cell sorting and microscopy, in addition to a Mass Spectrometry Unit and a Late-Stage R&D and Bioproduction Unit. With our new building, iBET Biofarma, we are expanding our research infrastructure with 30 new labs, including one BSL3, which will accommodate up to 100 new researchers.

**Admission Requirements**:

- MSc with a minimum of 16 values in the scientific areas described
- Experience in extraction processes of bioactive compounds from natural matrices, including extraction with supercritical fluids and/or eutectic solvents and microwave and/or ultrasound-assisted extractions
- Experience in the purification of bioactive compounds (e.g thin layer, flash, centrifugal partition
chromatography)
- Experience in analytical tools (e.g. HPLC, GC, IR and NMR)
- Critical thinking, good organizational and communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Proficient use of the English language
- By the starting date of the fellowship, the fellow should be attending a non-degree academic course

**Work Plan**:
1) Extraction of bioactive compounds from olive oil and produced by-products using green technologies;
2) Purification of bioactive compounds from complex extracts; 3) Characterization of the bioactive extracts and compounds.

**Fellowship Duration**:
The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of the project, without prejudice to the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 1st of October 2023.

**Selection Criteria**:

- Academic training with a minimum of 16 values - 40%;
- Curriculum Assessment (CV) according to the admission requirements - 60%

Thus, the final evaluation will consist of 90% curriculum evaluation and 10% interview evaluation.

Applicants who do not meet the above admission requirements will not be eligible.
