**Job Overview**

It's an especially exciting time to join us as we're entering the retail market > Walmart the largest retailer in the US The Health & Safety Specialist is a critical position that will direct and support our efforts to ensure our warehouse in Montijo (aka kenckijo) has the utmost safe conditions for our kencko-ers.

**Main Goals**:

- Facilitate kencko’s compliance with the Portuguese Health and Safety (HS) Standards, laws and Regulations;
- Partner with the People team to elaborate the HS policies, perform workplace risk assessment reports, and guide the elaboration and approval of HS related procedures;
- Support the Quality team on the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System and certifications;
- Be an active member of the HS team, contributing to occupational risk control with recommendations for best practices and process optimization;
- Be a Quality, Food Safety and Health and Safety influencer and a role model.

**Responsibilities/ Main Activities**:

- Create, manage and regularly update a database for HS regulations applicable to kencko. Liaise with the Quality, People, and other teams regarding the necessary updates, when necessary;
- Compile and communicate all legal HS requirements in a timely manner;
- Liaise with external regulatory authorities or HS related suppliers, when appropriate;
- Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and elaborates a schedule of routine inspections;
- Develop health and safety procedures for all areas of the company located in the Montijo warehouse;
- Perform risk assessment analysis for the Health and Safety hazards present on each workstation or work position and establish the required control measures and preventive measures;
- Prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics;
- Organize simulacrum, training in first aid, evacuation and fire combat;
- Monitor compliance with safety procedures and conduct audits to ensure that kencko-ers are adhering to rules and regulations;
- Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine root causes, control and corrective measures;
- Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employee safety;
- Participate in PPE selection in partnership with the Office team; and
- Support the QA Team in the Management of the Quality, Food Safety and Health and Safety System as needed.

**Experience you bring**:

- Bachelor Degree (minimum) in Engineering (preferably) or related Field;
- Official Certification of Occupational Health and Safety Technician (Técnico Superior de Higiene e Segurança no Trabalho);
- Master's Degree in Occupational Safety and Environment is an asset;
- 3+ years' of combined experience in an industrial field such as Production, Quality, Maintenance, HS or similar, and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Safety Technician or similar;
- Experience in implementing laws, regulations and standards requirements, such as: ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 13857 or ISO 14120;
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and motivate resources and make an impact through passion and energy;
- Good computer knowledge (Google Suite, Notion are ideal);
- Auditing techniques (such as Internal Auditor or equivalent);
- Essential basic Microbiology, Chemistry and HACCP knowledge;
- Recent training in First Aid, Evacuation and Fire combat would be an asset;
- Must be fluent in Portuguese and possess a good command of spoken and written English;
- Technical knowledge of Machines / Equipment hazards and regulations, chemicals handling, noise and manual handling of loads; and
- Availability to work from our Montijo warehouse.
