Job Description Summary
You are responsible for providing solutions to customer needs and requirements in the field of adhesive & sealants. Support sales of existing portfolio to meet customer needs. This will be achievable through testing commercial available products or newly developed products
**Job Description**:
Reports to: Manager, Global Industrial R&D
Direct Reports: No direct reports
Department: R&D
Location: Porto, Portugal
**Responsibilities**:
- Independent creation and implementation of customer specific projects.
- Hands-on lab work in the preparation and testing of industrial water-, solventborne and solventfree formulations based on existing starting formulations.
- Update test formulas regarding newer raw materials and market trends.
- Discussion and communication of project status and results to supervisor and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintaining a record of all lab project work in written English by using existing software and databases
- Support of the marketing department in creation of promotional data for product launches and fairs, congresses. Participation in fairs and congresses.
- Technical support and guidance to quality, production and procurement departments.
- Active participation in technical training for commercial teams, distributors and customers.
Decision making
- Recommends training content, testing approaches and methodologies.
- Higher level approval required for non-budgetary resourcing and expenditures.

Position Requirements
Education: A degree in chemistry, preferably Master of science. Chemical Engineer. Relevant areas are Organic chemistry, Polymer chemistry, Physical chemistry.
Experience: 5+ years of practical experience of adhesive & sealant formulation, testing and customer collaboration/customer service. Experience in polymer synthesis is desirable but not required.
IT Skills: Microsoft Office, Presentation software, Project management software, Desireable: Salesforce, JDE, Experimental design, Rheocompas Language Skills: fluent in spoken and written English, second language is beneficial (apart from Portuguese).
Working arrangements: 5 days in the office.
Traveling required: Up 10 % of travel required.
