**About St. Julian's School**:
Founded in 1932, we are a highly successful, non-selective 3-18 British international school with a reputation for academic excellence. We currently have just over 1,200 students from over 50 different nationalities. The School has three sections: Primary, Secondary, and Portuguese. There are 480 students in the Primary Section.

At St. Julian's, we believe in a holistic education and expect our teachers to make an active contribution to the pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school. We broadly follow the National Curriculum for England leading to GCSEs and IB Diploma Programme. All teaching staff work with MacBooks.

**Primary Section Teacher Job Description**:
**Core Purpose**:
To facilitate the learning of students and promote the effective development of all individuals in our learning community.

**Learning**:

- To mentor and support students in their learning
- To develop a personalised approach to learning that enables every child to succeed and understand the diverse learning capacities of students
- To develop necessary intervention in and out of the classroom where a child is not making expected progress
- Use a variety of teaching strategic fundamental to school pedagogy in ways that stimulate learning and inspire students
- Integrate technology to enhance learning

- To work with tutors and pastoral leaders to ensure that student well-being is paramount
- To liaise with the Safeguarding leads and complete the necessary referral forms if a child is deemed at risk
- Promote intercultural understanding and respect for diversity among all students.

- To identify areas of potential growth each year and commit to developing oneself in this area
- To visit other classrooms to enable sharing of good practice
- To invite peers into classroom to enable sharing of good practice
- To participate fully in professional development opportunities in and out of school

**Primary Section Phase Leader (Upper Key Stage 2) Job Description**:
**Core Purpose**:
To be responsible for the academic care of students in Years 5 and 6. To lead a team of teachers and teaching assistants to ensure all students are supported socially, emotionally and academically.

**Leadership and Management**:

- To be the first point of contact for the teachers and teaching assistants in their phase and manage the day-to-day running of this team, ensuring that there is consistency throughout the two year groups.
- To act as a highly effective role model, in classroom practice and in relationships with students and staff.
- To be dedicated to a culture of collaboration and excellence by supporting, motivating and empowering colleagues in their roles as class teachers or teaching assistants.
- To act with passion, enthusiasm and integrity and to foster an open and enjoyable climate for all.
- To hold student wellbeing and student learning at the centre of all decision making.
- To be the professional learning reviewer for some members of their phase.

**Strategic Development**:

- To articulate a vision for their assigned phase, and to develop practices that reflect the ethos of St. Julian’s.

**Teaching & Learning**:

- To work with the SSD and EAL departments in response to the needs of individual students within their phase.
- Alongside the PLT, to monitor the quality of learning and teaching in lessons.
