**Senior Team Lead Data Engineering - building a strong data foundation for decision making**

Our Business Intelligence (BI) department has an equally large footprint with several thousand users and multiple hundred reports. In short, our expertise is data: how to integrate it for reporting and analytics, how it may be captured throughout our business, and how that affects the quality of information.

**Join our Centre of Insights and Analytics team in Group Finance**

Our team consists of over 80 colleagues with a diverse background in Business Intelligence which are located across various countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. Part of this team are data engineers, BI Specialists and other functions that develop a global Microsoft Azure data stack & Power BI used for business-critical decision making across all DSV divisions, functions and countries.

In this position you the Senior Team Lead Data Engineering will work from our location for data engineering: Lisbon (PT). The role supports our major divisions and functions (Air & Sea, Road, Solutions, GCO, Group) to develop the data domain in the ODW with a clear focus on rapid ingestion growth and solution scalability.

As a Senior Team Lead Data engineering at DSV, you are the bridge between the Agile development team and the CIA management team.

**Your main activities will include**:

- Focusing on the construction of data models, from extract layer in Azure Data Factory (ADF), to storage and transformation in SQL Database/ Synapse/ Databricks up to creation Tabular Models (Azure Analysis Services (AAS)/ PBI Datasets) layer based on business user stories.
- Collaborate with the Tech Lead on the technical data domain design according to best practice and CIA standards.
- Support the data engineers in the team to create optimized and well documented ETL processes.
- Creating an atmosphere of learning/ growth between team members and transfer knowledge to related teams such as the operations & support team
- Actively engage in user story planning and refinement to support the agile delivery framework to help ensuring high quality and flexible deliverables
- Support vertical director by the creation of effort estimations and implementation planning

**We imagine our new colleague to have the following skills and qualifications**:

- Strong data engineering experience (5+ years) building an enterprise scale data foundation.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft’s BI stack, namely Azure SQL Database/Azure Synapse, Azure Analysis Services, ADF/Synapse Integration, DevOps, expertise in Power BI would be preferred
- Proven experience at reviewing and optimizing code.
- Team lead/ management experience of a development team (3 + years)
- Able to coach and mentor junior members of the team
- Manage high priority deliverables aligned with the BI roadmap
- A sound understanding of BI Governance in an Enterprise setup
- A desire to help the business adopt the technology and possess strategic and creative problem-solving skills to fully leverage the technology’s growing capabilities.
- Be able to deliver in a agile way with Jira as our management tool.
