**Trader (Gas Desk)**

**Mission**

The Gas Trading Desk is responsible for all European hubs trading activities in the Natural Gas markets where GALP has presence (PT, SP, FR, ND). The desk’s mandate is to develop and execute trading strategies and to capture market opportunities and arbitrages in an agile and efficient way with the ultimate goal of creating added value to GALP through portfolio optimization, margin maximization and best price execution.

**What you’ll do**
- Support the team on the expansion of its trading activity to other geographies, exchanges and products;
- Analyze, plan and execute Natural Gas trades on Exchanges and OTC (Over the Counter): monitoring of market levels, negotiation and trading;
- Relationship management with Brokers, Counterparties and VIP Commercial customers;
- Articulation with Supply, LNG and Logistics in order to rebalance / better optimize Galp’s portfolio;
- Continuous monitoring of worldwide Gas’ markets in to develop trading strategies in line with the trading framework in place (using fundamental / technical / statistical analysis);
- Be a part on the strategy definition and participation of Galp in auctions for infrastructure capacities (e.g. to acquire storage or interconnection capacity to guarantee internal needs or for trading purposes);
- Support the flow of information between the Gas Desk and the Supply / Commercial teams, effectively managing risk in the proposals sent to clients;
- Support and ensure the correct insertion of daily trades on our Allegro’s ETRM platform in order to guarantee in-time monitoring and controls of individual trades and aggregated position;
- Regular communication with Middle and Back-office teams to articulate diverse front office needs.

**What you’ll need**
- Basic understanding of Trading /markets environment, in specific in European gas and power markets, but also its worldwide influences;
- Knowledge of market fundamentals, financial products/derivatives, infrastructures, associated relevant regulations and standard industry contracting practices is a must;
- Knowledge of gas market, over a trading vision or a logistics / operations/ business one;
- Experience with Business Intelligence and Data Visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) is a plus;
- Knowledge of Portfolio Optimization and previous experience in scheduling or analyses in commodities are a plus;
- Knowledge of programming languages such as VBA or Python is desired;
- Degree in Business / Mathematics / Engineering / Physics or otherwise proven quantitative and analytical excellence;
- Fluency in English is a must have;
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus;
- Proficiency in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required;
- Commercially driven, creativity and good negotiation skills;
- Ability to work under stressful market conditions and to react fast to unpredictable events;
- Ability and will to continuously learn and adapt;
- Team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment;
- Degree in Business / Mathematics / Engineering / Physics or otherwise proven quantitative and analytical excellence.
