**Job Title: Financial Accounting Manager**

**Job Brief**

Join us as a Financial Accounting Manager and help us build a foundation for financial success. We are looking for an ambitious go-getter to oversee all operational functions of our Finance department and provide operational support for making excellent decisions. You will serve as the leader of the company’s finance operations team, playing a key role in the growth of an exciting start up in the energy transition sector.

As our Financial Accounting Manager, you will play a central role in overseeing, managing, and streamlining our finance operations. Your responsibilities will encompass general accounting duties, tax and related compliance, finance technology and systems, payroll management, and XYZ. You will be the key person ensuring the seamless functioning of all internal finance operations.
- Reporting Structure: You will report to the Chief Financial Officer, a key figure in our organization, and collaborate closely with the HR and Finance teams, alongside external partners. _

**Responsibilities**

The Financial Accounting Manager’s key responsibility includes maintaining and enhancing the organization’s financial records by ensuring accurate financial statements, leading audits, managing taxes, implementing internal controls, and reporting on financial risks and opportunities.

You will set objectives for & lead the financial accounting team, maintain internal finance systems and databases, lead our policies and procedures, and manage all day to day finance operations for the business. Other duties include:

- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions including, but not limited to: accounting payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, taxes/compliance, and payroll
- Drive and own financial audit activities and the annual financial controls audit; work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end
- Prepare, review, and analyse financial statements on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Monitor and manage current internal finance information systems and databases. Recommend new software to address finance needs as the business grows
- Monitor cash position and perform treasury duties where needed
- Assess current finance policies and procedures and recommend improvements and additions to those programs as needed
- Liaise with HR on payroll or employee costs as needed
- Be a superb people leader for the financial accounting team as we grow, and directly overseeing the Finance administrator role that exists today
- We're a growing start up - so there will be plenty of other exciting things to work on as we grow

**Requirements & qualifications**
- Proven work experience (at least 5-7 years) as a Finance or Accounting Manager or similar role - preferably in a start up environment, with significant responsibilities in areas such as: general ledger, tax and compliance, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, cash/treasury management, etc.
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role within finance operations.
- Deep experience working with various ERP systems (NetSuite, Odoo, SAP, etc); a plus if you have implemented one of these systems yourself in a start up context
- Experience managing the month end close process
- Experience with IFRS. Knowledge of Portuguese and/or Norwegian accounting policies is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on process improvement and data-driven decision-making.
- Detail oriented and accuracy-first mindset with deep attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities to manage multiple finance responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent level of Excel proficiency required
- Strong English skills both spoken and written. Fluent in Portuguese a must-have.
- BSc in Finance or Accounting or relevant field; MSc in Finance or Accounting a plus; certified accountant a plus
