About The Role

Tax Specialist is responsible for ensuring full tax compliance across the group, overseeing all tax processes (direct, indirect, and local taxes), and developing strategies to optimize tax efficiency. This role involves close collaboration with finance, legal, and treasury teams, supporting audits, monitoring tax legislation changes, and providing strategic tax advice for new business operations and investments. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with analytical rigor, communication skills, and a proactive, business‑oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure compliance with all tax obligations (VAT, Corporate Income Tax, withholding taxes, local taxes, etc.) across all group companies;

- Prepare, review, and submit tax returns within legal deadlines;

- Supervise tax audits and respond to inspections from tax authorities;

- Develop tax planning strategies to optimize tax efficiency;

- Assess the tax impact of new operations, investments, or acquisitions;

- Monitor legislative changes in the countries where iCliGo operates and evaluate their impact on the global business;

- Ensure reconciliation between accounting and tax records;

- Prepare periodic tax reports for management;

- Support accounting closing processes and external audits on tax matters;

- Work closely with accounting, legal, and treasury departments;

- Train and support colleagues on relevant tax matters;

- Act as a key point of contact between headquarters and local entities to ensure full group‑wide tax compliance.

What We’re Looking For

- Degree in Accounting, Management, Finance, Economics, or Law;

- Postgraduate degree or specialization in Taxation (preferred);

- 4 to 6 years of professional experience in tax roles, ideally in a multinational environment or consultancy (Big Four preferred);

- Proven experience managing both direct and indirect taxes;

- In‑depth knowledge of Portuguese and European tax legislation;

- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Primavera, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills;

- Fluency in English (spoken and written);

- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail;

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

- Proactive and results‑oriented mindset;

- Critical thinking and autonomy;

- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
