We're seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Siemens S.A. in Lisbon, Portugal.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented data professional to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of our reliable and scalable data infrastructure. As a key member of our growing data engineering team, you'll collaborate closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless data flow across the organization.

Your mission will be to develop, manage, and monitor data pipelines to ensure trusted and scalable data integration services for our customers. You'll also contribute to the design and management of comprehensive integration platforms, driving Siemens towards becoming a data-driven company.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement robust data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into our data platforms.
  • Automate data integration and ETL processes using tools like Apache Airflow, Spark, or Kafka.
  • Monitor data quality, identify and resolve data issues, and implement data governance practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend new data technologies, tools, and architectural patterns to improve data infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the development of data engineering best practices and standards across the organization.
  • Mentor and guide junior data engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a data engineer or in a similar data-focused role.
  • Proficient in designing and implementing data pipelines using tools like Apache Spark, Airflow, Kafka, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Proficiency in Python, Scala, or other data engineering programming languages.
  • Familiarity with data engineering best practices, including data versioning, testing, and monitoring.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies.
