Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Maritime Regulatory Specialist to join our team at the Union for the Mediterranean.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Directives 2009/16/EC (PSC) and (EU) 2017/2110 (RoPax), providing training to Port State Control Officers, and contributing to the work of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) correspondence group on Port State Control.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supporting the work of the Unit in implementing EU maritime directives;
  • Providing technical advice and assistance in the field of flag state, fishing vessels, and ship safety and construction standards;
  • Assisting in the conduct of visits to Member States and other activities related to ship safety.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need a university degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, preferably with three years of professional experience in maritime regulatory affairs.

Working Arrangements

This is a secondment opportunity, open to experts working for intergovernmental organisations, government departments, or public administrations in the EU Member States, Norway, or Iceland. The selected candidate will remain employed by their current employer throughout the secondment period.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of approximately €60,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
