Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Academic Physical Education (PE) to lead our PE department at King's College School, Cascais. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of teaching PE at GCSE and IB levels, securing top academic outcomes and inspiring students through engaging lessons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management: Lead the PE department, overseeing curriculum development, teaching standards, and resource allocation to ensure high-quality education.
  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive PE curriculum aligned with Cambridge International and forthcoming IB standards, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and lifelong appreciation for health and wellness.
  • Teaching Excellence: Deliver engaging and challenging PE lessons to students from Years 7 to 13, ensuring excellence in academic outcomes across all levels.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and administer assessments that accurately measure student progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual learning needs.
  • Professional Development: Mentor and support PE teachers, facilitating professional growth and promoting best practices within the department.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning and contribute to the school's academic initiatives.
  • Student Engagement: Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities related to physical education, such as sports teams and fitness clubs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field, with a strong academic track record and recognized teaching qualification. They should have experience teaching PE at GCSE and IB levels, with a history of securing top academic outcomes and a passion for innovative teaching methods.
