A Key Position in Our Project Team

As a Commercial Director, you will be a vital member of our project team, responsible for representing Gleeds Corporate Services Ltd and leading the cost and procurement management aspects of data centre construction projects. Your primary objective will be to ensure that these projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Formulating and managing strategies to achieve business objectives.">
  • Ensuring that projects adhere to our established processes and procedures.">
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, implementing a customer care plan.">
  • Delivering high-quality services and deliverables, meeting client requirements.">
  • Resolving customer complaints.">
  • Leading commercial and cost management functions for hyper-scale data centre projects.">
  • Developing and implementing commercial strategies aligned with project goals and client expectations.">
  • Overseeing cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting to maintain financial control.">
  • Conducting cost analysis and benchmarking to optimise project costs.">
  • Managing contract negotiations and compliance to ensure contractual obligations are met and risks are mitigated.">
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities, implementing risk mitigation strategies.">
  • Promoting sustainable practices and innovative solutions in cost management.">
  • Reviewing scope of appointments regularly to ensure services align with appointments.">
  • Making sufficient resources available to deliver services.">
  • Leading and managing teams, working with Associate Directors to manage resources and workload.">
  • Maintaining compliance with administrative requirements (appraisals, training, timesheets etc.).">
  • Briefing employees on relevant aspects of Gleeds Corporate Services Ltd business.">
  • Managing service delivery for profit.">
  • Handling the commercial aspects of projects (e.g. scope of services/deliverables, invoices, payments, and debt management).">
  • Collaborating harmoniously with other project team leads and assisting Project and Programme Directors.">

Requirements

">

We are looking for an experienced professional with sound cost management experience in Data Centres construction projects, covering pre-contract and construction/post-contract cost management tasks. You should have practical knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies. Additionally, you should possess clear and effective communication skills, both oral and written. A methodical approach to work, organisational skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to changing environments are essential. Excellent problem-solving, negotiating, finance, and numeracy management skills are also required. Sound ICT skills, with a good level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are necessary. The ability to work as part of a team and manage teams is crucial. Fluency in English is mandatory. Being ready to work site-based 5 days per week is a requirement. A degree in Engineering, Architecture or Quantity Surveying is desired, along with professional qualifications and/or membership of the RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS or other relevant Chartered Institute.

Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum
