About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Data Centre Director to join our team at Gleeds. In this role, you will be responsible for leading cost and procurement management aspects of data centres construction project delivery.

As a key member of our project team, you will represent the company and oversee financial and contractual elements to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Formulate and manage strategies to deliver business objectives.
  • Ensure projects are managed in accordance with Gleeds processes and procedures.
  • B - Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • D - Deliver high-quality services and deliverables ensuring that services meet customer requirements.
  • E - Resolve customer complaints.
  • F - Lead commercial and cost management functions for hyper-scale data centre projects.
  • G - Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with project goals and client expectations.
  • H - Oversee cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure financial control.
  • I - Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to optimize project costs.
  • J - Manage contract negotiations and compliance to ensure all contractual obligations are met and risks are mitigated.
  • K - Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, implementing risk mitigation strategies to protect project interests.
  • L - Promote sustainable practices and innovative solutions in cost management.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around £85,000-£120,000 per annum, depending on experience and location.

In addition to your base salary, you will also receive a range of benefits, including access to training and development opportunities, flexible working arrangements, and a comprehensive employee assistance programme.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to have sound cost management experience in data centres construction projects, covering pre-contract and construction/post-contract cost management tasks.

You should also have practical knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies, as well as sound knowledge and experience of post-contract cost management tasks.

We are looking for someone with clear and effective communication skills, both oral and written, who is able to think methodically and approach work in a logical way.

Additionally, you should have excellent problem-solving, negotiating, finance, and numeracy management skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a team and manage teams.

Fluent English is essential, and you should be ready to work site-based 5 days per week.

Qualifications

A degree in engineering, architecture, or quantity surveying is required, and professional qualifications and/or membership of the RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS, or other relevant chartered institute are desirable.
