The French department at King's College School, Cascais, is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to shape the future of our French program. Our school offers the Cambridge International curriculum, including IGCSEs, and is set to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the French department, overseeing curriculum development, teaching standards, and resource allocation.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive French curriculum aligned with Cambridge International and forthcoming IB standards.
  • Deliver engaging and challenging French lessons to students from Years 7 to 13.
  • Develop and administer assessments that accurately measure student progress.
  • Mentor and support French teachers, facilitating professional growth and promoting best practices within the department.
  • Work closely with colleagues across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning and contribute to the school's academic initiatives.
  • Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities related to French.

Requirements:

  • A degree in French or a related field, with a strong academic track record.
  • Proven experience teaching French at GCSE and IB levels, with a history of securing top academic outcomes.
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to manage a department and work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Innovative teaching approach, with ability to inspire students through creative and engaging lessons.
  • Assessment expertise, with experience in developing and implementing effective assessment strategies.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development, staying updated on advancements in French language education.
