Job Responsibilities

  • Mentor and lead less experienced medical writers on complex projects, ensuring they develop necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Represent the Medical Writing department on clinical study teams, conferences, meetings, and presentations to clients regarding writing projects.
  • Advise clients and study teams on data presentation and production strategies, as well as interpret and present clinical data and other complex information.
  • Develop good working relationships with internal and external colleagues.
  • Manage medical writing activities associated with individual studies, coordinating tasks within and across departments with minimal supervision.
  • Develop or support various documents, including clinical study protocols, reports, patient narratives, and regulatory submissions.
  • Review statistical analysis plans and table/figure/listing specifications for appropriate content and grammar.
  • Serve as peer reviewer providing review comments to ensure clarity of meaning, accuracy, relevance, and overall quality standards.
  • Adhere to established regulatory standards, including ICH-E3 guidelines, and company SOPs when completing medical writing projects.
  • Perform online clinical literature searches, as applicable.
  • Continuously develop professional skills to keep pace with regulatory guidance and client expectations affecting medical writing.
  • Understand budget specifications for assigned projects and communicate changes to medical writing leadership.
  • Complete required administrative tasks within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree with relevant writing experience or Bachelor of Arts degree (Social Sciences, English, or Communications) with relevant scientific and/or medical knowledge.
  • Extensive knowledge of English grammar and familiarity with AMA style guide.
  • Understanding of FDA and ICH regulations and guidelines strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective presentation, proofreading, and interpersonal skills, ensuring a team-oriented approach.
  • Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and Internet.
  • Ability to demonstrate a familiarity with principles of clinical research and interpret and present clinical data and other complex information.

This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality medical writing projects on time and within budget. You will be responsible for mentoring and leading junior medical writers, developing strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues, and adhering to regulatory standards and company policies.
