Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Homeroom Teacher for the English Stream to join our team at PaRK International School in Lisbon, Portugal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach multiple subjects including Science, Mathematics, and English to students in Grades 1 to 5.
  • Inspire and motivate students to achieve their best while fostering a love for learning.
  • Cater lessons to the diverse needs of students, providing personalized learning support.
  • Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment, ensuring student safety and respect.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Promote the general well-being and personal growth of students, fostering a nurturing learning atmosphere.
  • Incorporate modern technology into teaching to enhance student engagement and learning experiences.
  • Support school life beyond the classroom, participating in trips, clubs, and enrichment activities.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teaching Credentials: A recognized teaching qualification (such as PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with specialization in Primary or Elementary Education, particularly in international curricula like IB PYP or Cambridge Primary.
  • Subject Expertise: Strong content knowledge across multiple subjects, particularly in English, Mathematics, and Science, with the ability to deliver these subjects effectively to primary-age students.
  • Experience with Differentiated Learning: Demonstrated experience in applying differentiated instruction to accommodate the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students from varied cultural backgrounds.
  • Classroom Management Skills: Excellent classroom management abilities to maintain high standards of behavior, discipline, and safety, creating a positive learning environment.
  • Pastoral Care and Well-being: A nurturing approach to student welfare, with the ability to provide pastoral care and contribute to the emotional and social well-being of students.
  • Assessment and Feedback Mastery: Proficiency in using both formative and summative assessments to track student progress, with the ability to provide constructive, timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Technological Fluency: Experience integrating educational technology into lessons to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes, including tools like interactive whiteboards and learning management systems.
  • Collaborative Approach: Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents to achieve common educational goals.
  • Commitment to Professional Development: A commitment to continuous professional development, staying updated on educational trends, new technologies, and innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Awareness and sensitivity to working in a diverse, multicultural environment, understanding the needs and backgrounds of international students.
