Main Job Responsibilities

  1. Direct the development of back-end technologies for a platform/product.
  2. Lead the recruitment and onboarding process for their teams, hiring/firing as necessary, coaching teams and individuals to grow talents.
  3. Manage back-end team leads and possibly senior engineers through periodic feedback, one-to-one sessions, performance evaluations, and preparing individual development plans (IDP) for direct reports.
  4. Participate in and lead/co-lead agile processes and scrum/kanban ceremonies of the team, ensuring adherence to set agile rules.
  5. Lead the platform/product development without frequently getting involved in writing and reviewing code.
  6. Improve the quality of the platform/product by identifying technical debts, recurring problems, and pitfalls. Enhance architecture, system design, and process flows.
  7. Manage resources within his/her teams, rotating people as necessary, and creating a balance of workload among teams.
  8. Implement the latest technological innovations to advance the company's technology for better and more digital products.
  9. Create new guidelines and improve existing standards, ensuring that domain knowledge of the team is well documented.
  10. Participate and drive engineering activities that are not directly linked to his/her team but improve the whole engineering.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's, Master's, or higher degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or any relevant field.
  2. 8+ years of experience in backend development, with 2+ years of experience in managing other engineers or leads.
  3. Experience with K8s and containers, cloud-based development, infrastructure and system design, microservices, SQL and NoSQL databases, and agile methodology (ideally scrum).
  4. Knowledge of data structures, coding patterns, and algorithms.
  5. Experience with RESTful APIs, message brokers, 3rd party integrations, code/peer reviews, working with design mock-ups, CI/CD, secure development, information security, and test-driven development.
  6. Strong skills in constructive feedback, analytical thinking, leadership, team management, communication, and presentation.
  7. English (Upper-intermediate).
