Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll and Compliance Specialist to join our Management Company Accounting (MCA) team based in Lisbon. As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for handling end-to-end US and Portugal payroll processing, working closely with external and internal consultants on employee tax and compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities- Manage tax and deductions for all federal, state, local, or other taxes affecting US payroll, including statutory compliances with respect to 401K, Social Security, FICA, FUTA, and other related regulations.
- Manage Portugal Social Security contributions and taxation regulations.
- Utilize ADP for payroll processing or other platforms for posting payroll journal entries.
- Support employees with payroll-related inquiries, resolve paycheck issues, and address withholding tax questions.
- Prepare for and coordinate with auditors to ensure smooth payroll audit processes.
- Generate compensation reports and ad-hoc reports for management as needed.
- Manage employee reimbursements for staff in both the US and Portugal.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor or Master degree with 5-7 years of experience in Portuguese and US payroll processing, with a strong understanding of payroll taxes and compliance.
- Proven experience in processing both Portuguese and US payroll, with a track record of working with tax and compliance consultants.
- Experience working on ADP platforms and posting payroll journal entries.
- A good understanding of employee tax and withholding regulations in both the US and Portugal.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English.
- US Payroll Certification is a plus.
Salary: €60,000 - €80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
