Role Overview.

The Tax Reporting & Accounting Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the Group's tax and accounting reporting obligations are met at the highest level. This includes implementing and deploying new tax reporting tools, supporting the finance team in year-end tax reporting deliverables, and guiding the Close and Accounting teams in preparing their tax reporting deliverables.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Implement and deploy new tax reporting tools, and serve as the interface between Finance and Group Tax teams on this process;
  • Support the finance team in year-end tax reporting deliverables;
  • Guide the Close and Accounting teams and support them in the preparation of their deliverables in terms of tax reporting, using IFRS expertise in the context of IAS12 and tax reporting requirements;
  • Support the preparation of statutory financial statements, as well as the Tax Compliance process upon request from Group Tax;
  • Translate tax structures into financial reporting processes;
  • Review and prepare the tax position in the annual accounts (IFRS) and understand the differences between result before tax at consolidated level and at statutory/tax level for the legal entities of the Group;
  • Use data extraction and software solutions to help finance and tax teams make optimal use of the data, guaranteeing compliance and reporting obligations;
  • Improve existing internal tax reporting processes and set up new ones when needed, including providing training and coaching, as well as leveraging on existing solutions within the company;
  • Advise and support finance and tax departments on various tax issues when it comes to cross-functional questions;
  • Be gradually more involved in a variety of activities on a project basis, such as optimizing and automating tax processes as well as advising on tax accounting related issues, being a sparring partner between the different disciplines;
  • Work with highly specialized colleagues in tax reporting, accounting, and financial reporting.

Requirements.

  • Relevant academic background (Tax, Accounting, Finance or similar) and qualifications in Finance (i.e., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent);
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in tax reporting, accounting reporting or similar;
  • Strong understanding and technical knowledge of IFRS;
  • Experience working in an international environment;
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate both with upper management as well as with junior staff;
  • Interest in developing tax requirements and reporting skills;
  • Agile thinker and quick learner;
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to function in a tight deadline-oriented environment;
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal;
  • Availability for occasional travels;
  • Availability to work in Porto, Portugal.
