Lead Innovation at Hovione

Hovione is a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry, and we're seeking a talented Innovation Director to join our team.

As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving innovation and growth across our organization. Your expertise in chemistry, pharmacy, chemical engineering, or innovation management will be instrumental in shaping our R&D strategy and ensuring the successful development of new products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional teams to manage innovation processes and internal R&D projects
  • Manage resource allocation and assign team members to specific tasks, prioritizing to maximize internal and external resources
  • Oversee a portfolio of strategic R&D programs, including incubation to full commercial deployment
  • Lead innovation project governance through chairing and participating in innovation review committees, establishing stage gates, and proposing and monitoring budgets
  • Apply strategic thinking and forward planning to projects, implementing necessary actions to promote faultless execution
  • Act as champion for open innovation within the organization
  • Identify and assess new scientific and business opportunities, trends, and market needs, ensuring the use of up-to-date technology, processes, and work practices
  • Lead early evaluation and incubation of technologies internally or externally to rapidly reach proof of concepts
  • Deploy successful technologies, including all relevant functions, to ensure successful technology deployment and launch in minimum time
  • Proactively identify partnerships with tech transfer offices, academia, technology providers, research centers, and others
  • Contribute to scientific communication and events
  • Prepare documentation to support regulatory, IP, marketing, or other cross-functional activities
  • Manage the application for grants and funds that contribute to our innovation processes
  • Ensure compliance with GMP and HSE guidelines, internal and external requirements, and promote the implementation and maintenance of Hovione's policies, systems, and procedures

We're looking for a candidate with:

  • PhD in chemistry, pharmacy, chemical engineering, innovation management, or a related discipline
  • At least 10 years of experience in an R&D or innovation environment
  • Expertise in one of the related fields (qualification of new excipients, oncology, anti-infective, inhalation, bio enhancement, oral solid dosage forms, nutraceuticals, new biological modalities)
  • Experience in contract management, including Intellectual Property
  • Excellent external network, including academia, technology providers, consultants, etc.
  • Proven track record in leading technology development in an open innovation environment
  • Proven track record in managing project portfolios and associated governance
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant quality and regulatory guidelines
  • Experience in working in cross-functional teams and fast-paced environments
  • Team player, looking to tackle challenges together with your team
  • Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written)
