This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at La Rochelle Université as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Microbial Ecology.
The successful candidate will have the chance to contribute to a cutting-edge research project focused on characterizing the microbial exposome in different biotopes in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region. This project aims to study the links between the microbial exposome, animal health, human health, and plant health, as well as its relationship with human development, pollution, and climate change.
You will be working within the BIOFEEL (BIOdiversity and Functioning of Coastal Ecosystems) team, which studies the structure and functioning of coastal ecosystems using a trophic ecology approach. The team analyzes biodiversity and its role at different scales, from individual to ecosystem, and qualifies/quantifies the evolution of these ecosystems in response to environmental changes and societal issues.
Your responsibilities will include linking the occurrence of avian influenza events and the microbial exposome, characterizing the exposomes in coastal and terrestrial areas, comparing them with those where avian influenza viruses are rife, and analyzing the data obtained to determine the correlation between the various organisms making up the exposomes and the interaction networks existing in the microbial communities.
Required Skills and Qualifications- A PhD in a field related to microbial ecology, molecular ecology, or microbiology
- Solid expertise in the analysis of environmental DNA data
- Proficiency in DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, meta-barcoding/metagenomics
- Bioinformatics expertise: sequence analysis (QIIME, DADA2, Mothur, or other DNA sequence data analysis platforms)
- Expertise in biostatistics: statistical analysis, programming (R), and experience in network analysis (co-occurrence)
We offer a competitive salary ranging from €27,000 gross per month (approximately €22,000 net), depending on experience. Additionally, you will receive:
