About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Manager to join our team at the Sovereign Cloud Delivery & Operations organization.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building and leading a team of engineers, defining the roadmap for the Engineering, Quality Assurance, Release Management, and Security & Compliance teams, and collaborating with the leadership team to engage with SAP Lines of Businesses (LoBs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze the as-is situation and define the roadmap to close existing gaps in the Engineering, Quality Assurance, Release Management, and Security & Compliance teams.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team in their engagement with the SAP Lines of Businesses (LoBs) and attempt to outsource as many functions as possible into these LoB teams.
  • Create positions and functions that can bridge the 'last mile' between SAP's standard offerings and the Sovereign Cloud requirements.
  • Optimize the efficiency and throughput of the Technology & Engineering unit.
Requirements
  • Master's degree, MBA, or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Strong engineering management skills with the ability to build up and lead successful teams.
  • In-depth experience with cloud products.
  • Thorough understanding of and experience with the continuous delivery concept.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and resolve quality issues.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey strategy, plans, and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and technical product management.
  • Strong project management skills to coordinate release schedules and manage resources effectively.
  • Ideally, knowledge of SAP and the SAP solution portfolio.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and release management methodologies.
  • Experience with change management processes in complex organizations.
  • Knowledge of security regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong cultural awareness and intercultural competencies.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Decision-making and can-do attitude.
  • Proven ability to deliver against challenging timelines.
  • Persistence, self-motivation, and willingness to work under pressure.
  • English (fluent), German is a plus.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the field of software engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as engineering manager for complex software products.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with cloud products.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud software delivery tools, processes, and methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with quality testing and automation tools.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud security and compliance topics.
  • Very good understanding of cloud infrastructure related topics.
  • Ideally, experience with on-premise and/or cloud-based SAP solutions.
