About the Role
">This role involves participating in research tasks related to the study of shockwaves on complex structures in urban environments. You will be responsible for conducting experimental campaigns, performing numerical simulations, and analyzing the effects of blast loads on buildings and occupants.
Key Responsibilities
">- Conduct an experimental campaign to establish benchmark validation tests;
- Perform numerical simulations to estimate the effects of near-field and interior explosions on buildings and their impact on occupants in complex urban settings;
- Analyze the influence of parameters such as façade geometry and orientation, openings (e.g., windows), and proximity to neighboring buildings on structural damage and occupant injuries;
- Propose simplified tools to predict the effects of blast loads in urban environments;
- Write and submit scientific articles and reports;
Requirements
">To be successful in this role, you will need:
Education and Skills
">- A Bachelor and Master Degree in Civil Engineering or related areas;
- Experience in numerical simulation of the effects of blast loading in structures using commercial finite element programs (LS-DYNA, blastFoam, etc.);
- Proficiency in the English language;
- Enrollment in the PhD program in Civil Engineering at NOVA School of Science and Technology.
