The SMARTENERGY Group AG is a leading investment company in renewable energy and related ventures. We are seeking an experienced Green Hydrogen Process Safety Engineer to join our team in Wollerau, Switzerland.
This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the safe design of our green hydrogen and e-Fuels projects. You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement process safety strategies that minimize risks to all project stakeholders and the community.
About the Job
We offer a competitive salary of CHF 120,000 per year, which is one of the highest in the industry for this role. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
Responsibilities
- You will lead the development of technical process safety strategies for our hydrogen and derivatives plants during all engineering phases (Feasibility Assessment to Detailed Engineering).
- You will perform qualitative risk assessments based on information from different stakeholders.
- You will perform preliminary sizing of fire-fighting facilities, F&G design philosophies, and Hazardous Area Classification.
- You will support other technical disciplines in decision-making during plant design regarding sizing and location of equipment, buildings, and infrastructure from a safety point of view.
- You will prepare documentation for local authorities compliant with applicable local standards and regulations.
- You will review and approve all safety-related documentation prepared by third parties.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience of 10 years in conducting design of safety installations and risk assessment of large-scale oil & gas, petrochemical or hydrogen facilities.
- Experience in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL assessments, Occupational safety, Hazards and Effects management.
- Experience with DNV Phast/Safeti or Gexcon Effects software.
- Experienced with regulations, international standards, and industry best practices.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with hydrogen systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with local safety legislation in Portugal, Spain, Italy, or Germany.
