BIOTECHNOLOGY- November 28, 2024- Offer Description- PhD holder to develop research activities according in the Project Ref. 2023.15041.TENURE 001, financed by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia- Contract category and applicable legislation- A work contract will be established under the terms of the Portuguese Labour Code, for individuals holding a Doctoral Degree, corresponding to Level 220 of the Carreira de Investigação Científica according with Dec. Regulamental nº 11-A/2017, 29 December.- Admission Requirements**General requirements**
- Research experience in process technologies for the extraction and formulation of natural bioactive compounds and bioactivity studies;
- Demonstrated scientific maturity, in the form of publications in peer-reviewed journals (reporting original work), in the areas described above;
- Demonstrated ability to obtain independent funding in public and/or private scientific funding programmes;
- Experience in the supervision of master’s and/or doctoral students;
- Experience in establishing scientific collaborations with public and private institutions;
- Experience in coordinating scientific platforms, including technology transfer, is desirable;
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written);
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Fluency in English (oral and written).
**Specific requirements**
- Experience in the following research areas:
- design of green extraction and purification processes for the recovery of bioactive compounds from natural sources, including agrifood industry residues;
- evaluation of bioactivity of natural compounds using cell based assays (e.g. anticancer and anti-inflammatory effect);
- integration of cell-based assays with analytical tools to unveil the mechanisms of action of bioactive compounds in health
- design of human intervention studies to evaluate the bioavailability and bioactivity of bioactive compounds present in foods and nutraceuticals;
