Accountant, Financial Accounting - KBS

Role Description

The Accountant, Financial Accounting role is part of a dynamic and integrated Finance function delivering operational Finance specialist services. The role reports to the Financial Accounting Senior Accountant and will work with internal and external partners to ensure processes are performed in accordance with performance and quality standards. This position is focused on performing financial accounting activities including supporting closing and reporting and adherence to statutory requirements. Key responsibilities include:

- Assist in maintenance, processing and production of month / year end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, journals and associated underlying schedules.
- Support the preparation and review of period close entries, and general ledger accounts reconciliation and analysis
- Support for the preparation and review of statutory accounts and financial statements
- Support Intercompany (IC) reconciliations and disputes resolution
- Support the production and review of balance sheets
- Helping to maintain the fixed assets register
- Maintaining documentation to ensure staff have access to current and compliant documents and policies
- Maintain close relationships with customer/ 3rd party delivery partner groups to ensure responsiveness to their needs, track service delivery and escalate any issues to the R2R senior accountant/lead where required
- Develop sound professional working relationships with colleagues across KBS and Local Business, building their confidence and acquiring an understanding of the business

Role Requirements
- Relevant degree (accounting, finance, economics)
- Progressing towards accounting qualification (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Good accounting knowledge
- Fluent English speaker, accurately able to read and write English and to communicate effectively
- Ability to work in a changing and flexible organisation.
- Willingness to work flexibly across geographic time zones during peak periods such as period end
- Experience of working in a shared services or global business services environment desirable
